Roswell : New Mexico

A city in Chaves County, Roswell covers an area of 75.0 km² (29.0 mi²). In 1978 Roswell, New Mexico was selected as an All America City and today it is known more because of the  1947 Roswell UFO incident. It is primarily an agricultural community and one of the country’s leaders in chilli pepper industry. Its dairies provide milk for the largest mozzarella cheese factory in the world.

Tucked away on the sun-baked eastern plains of New Mexico, Roswell is a quaint little town near Texas. Robert Goddard, the physicist who launched the first liquid-fueled rocket in 1926, practiced rocketry here. It is popular for irrigation farming, dairying, ranching, manufacturing, distribution, and petroleum production. It is also the home of New Mexico Military Institute, founded in 1891. Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge is located a few miles northeast of the city on the Pecos River.

Average temperature in January is around 41.2 degrees in January while it crosses 80 degrees in July. It receives an annual average rainfall of 10.75 inches.
